CATHEDRALS & BLEEDING KANSAS and other good news!

Evenin' all,

Picked up the masters and artwork for the Cathedrals/Bleeding Kansas split today and loaded new songs onto the Melotov Records myspace http://myspace.com/melotovrecords

I am seriously so excited to see the finished product, and I can't wait until it drops officially! The artwork is sick; Eddie, drummer for Cathedrals, drew it and did the layout as well. He definitely has a good eye for graphic design and things of that nature. Also a cool dude and has been awesome to work with throughout this whole process. Everyone in Cathedrals and BK are down to earth, humble people, which makes working with them even cooler. So stoked!

All the tracks were recorded, mixed, and mastered by Alex Estrada at The Earth Capital in LA, which has quite an impressive resume of artists that they've worked with (Touche Amore, Mons Worship, Betrayed, Charged, Catch Your Breath, Deadhead, etc). Check out The Earth Capital at: http://theearthcapital.com or http://theearthcapital.blogspot.com Cathedrals bring the doom-punk thrash while Bleeding Kansas keep it smooth and semi-mellow with southern-stoner rock vibes (think Botch meets Pink Floyd). It's a very diverse record and will be run in a few different colored vinyl (more details to come).

Next up: throwing DEADHEAD in the studio to record their 10" while DANCE FOR DESTRUCTION tours in support of their 12" LP. HOMESICK ABORTIONS had to take a breather for personal reasons, but their full-length will be out (sometime) this year.

Until then, check out The Earth Capital, the new tunes on our myspace, and keep supporting all that is independent and underground!

A most serious request from John Baehr and Niko Dorschel:

John and Niko are looking to get a new project going, and a bassist is the hardest fuckin thing to find.

Requirements:
Must like drinking.
Must like the Germs.
Must be okay with drugs.
Must be competent and creative.

Extras:A plus if you like Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Refused, Tragedy, Cursed, Nausea. Any of those or a poo-poo platter of all.

Contact them directly through their myspace http://myspace.com/charged and go audition. You do not have to be from Santa Clarita as long as you have reliable transportation. Git on it!

Melotov Records welcomes DENTON NOVICK to the roster!

On Monday, 5/25, Melotov Records joined forces with the lyrically talented and beat mastermind, Denton Novick. Yes, we specialize in music of the punk, hardcore, and metal variety, but as you (should have) read in our first blog, we don't discriminate. Good, independent music is good independent music regardless of the genre.

Denton Novick brings his eclectic musical influences to the hip hop forefront to create music that is truly unique, hard, and phat-as-fuck. Imagine if Jacob Bannon, decked out in all his MMA gear, wrote freestyles instead of fronting Converge. This is not your generic "crunk rap" or "gangster rap." Denton is honest, talented hip-hop at its best, and relentless in his hooks and lines. His beats break the mold and we are proud to be the label to first represent him and get his music out there.

Keep your ears open for Denton Novick, and keep supporting all that is independent and underground!

http://21st. punkrockdemo. com
"...Filmed in and around the exotic punk hangouts of Los Angeles, California over a 5 year period, the film "21st Century Punk Rock Volume 1" depicts the underground punk rock scene in this new 21st century. From fashion to what punk rock has become with the introduction of the internet, numerous interviews with well known bands and heavily influential people involved with the scene help to cover all the areas of this genre. Amazing performances by The Krum Bums, The Lower Class Brats, Shattered Faith, Resilience, Defied, The Casualties, All Out Attak, Dick Politic, 46 Short, Disaster Us, Terezodu, Sayaka, The Voids, Homesick Abortions, and Career Soldiers will give you a feel of what the shows are like today. Interviews from Big Rob (Fatal Riot band manager), Ron Martinez (Crawlspace Booking), Fury (Resilience), Robert Price (The Ghouls), Jake (The Casualties), Namor (Defied), and many more important people in the scene will explain to you what punk rock is like today. 21st Century Punk Rock Volume #1 is the first film to ever document the underground punk rock scene after the turn of the century."
