"Nostalgic sentiments..."

For those of you who came (literally and sexually) at last night's show, thank you. It was great to see a gathering of punks(x) from all ages drive out to a deserted-as-fuck-with-no-cell-signal house in Val Verde to give Charged their proper send off. It really restored hope in what seemed to have been a dying out scene. Despite the naysayers, I don't think punk will truly ever die, and that was apparent last night, witnessing all the 14 year old crusties pounding King Cobra. Ah youth... At first I laughed, but that was me a few years ago outside of the Cobalt Cafe sharing a 211 or Mickeys between myself and eight other punks. The best part was the need these youngsters felt to prove themselves, and so they got some pretty good pits going for every band that played. I tip my hat to thee; up the pre-pubescent punx.

Charged played the best set imaginable, including the infamous "TV Addict," which I believe was the first song ever penned by Clark and John. The entire living room (this was a house show) was moshing, and faces familiar and new chanted along to every thing played. As cliche as it sounds, there was a real sense of unity, which I personally haven't felt in full effect for a while. No cops, no drama; it was smelly, sweaty, drunken, and awesome, and although I'm sad that it was their last, it was definitely Charged's best show to date. It fucking ruled basically.

I took a forearm, or fist, or some hard body part to the nose/mouth during "Trenchfoot," which has left me bruised and swollen today, but needless to say it was well worth it.

They ended with "Stand Strong" in which the entire crowd was one amoeba of a dogpile. Pretty gnar if you ask me. It was great, I'll miss seeing them play as Charged, but all four guys have side projects in the works, so that'll be interesting to see.
Thanks again for coming out to support Charged! They may be dead, but punk isn't so keep hitting up shows and checking out what we have coming your way.

  2. I wish I didn't have to go to Las Vegas this weekend or else I would have made out to last night's show.
