Sound and Fury '09 & Red, White, and Blue Tattoo

So, here's my visual review of Sound & Fury '09...

... I got tattooed by Gilbert of Red, White, & Blue Tattoo (Ventura) who had set up a booth there at the venue. It was a 3-hour sesh, so most of my time was spent in the chair, watching and listening to the bands as they played instead of joining in on the pits and dog-piles. Definitely a good time, and more fun than last year (although last year was awesome as well). Shook Ones, Shai Hulud, STZ, and Lewd Acts were rad and it was cool to see kids smiling with blood in their teeth, icing their black eyes, or nursing a bruised nose. People were just having fun, and to my knowledge, no fights; no egos, no pride wars, no tough-guy attitudes even with some of the tough-guy hardcore that was going on. It was a nice vibe all around and I saw familiar faces, which really brought back some faith in what I thought was a scene that was falling apart.

One of the highlights of the night was when a drunk puto flipped a car in the alley, got out of the van and booked it down the street. We swarmed to see if he was okay, but he just crawled out and bolted... leaving the van on its side. Possibly a stolen vehicle? Who knows, but it was hysterical and definitely made the night more interesting.

Red, White, & Blue Tattoo had a booth set up there, and I got my ink done by Gilbert who typically does portrait work. He was such a down-to-earth, nice guy and his attention to detail is amazing. I'd definitely go back to get work done with him. Check them out, they're worth the trip up to Ventura. Thanks again, guys!

Picked up the new Hope Con. 7" which fucking rules, and Lewd Acts LP on Deathwish, good stuff. I definitely suggest getting a hold of both of those records when you get the chance.

Thanks to Sean of 1917 who is a bad ass guy and has helped a lot with Melotov stuff, and to everyone who made Sound & Fury possible this year.

Stoked as fuck.
